Getting started

Starting should feel simple. Here's who we see, how long it currently takes to get a first appointment, and exactly what happens next.

Estimated time to a first appointment

We'd rather be upfront so you can decide what's right for you. This is roughly how long it currently takes from completing the intake form to your first session.

Checking current availability…

How it works

  1. Optional: a free 15-minute call

Not sure OT is right for you? Book a quick call and ask us anything. You don't need to, though: you can go straight to the form.

  2. Fill in the intake form

About 5 minutes. It tells us what you’d like help with, when you’re free, and whether you’d like online or face-to-face sessions.

  3. Your first session

We match you with an OT who suits your needs and times, and email you when a first appointment comes up. Sessions are 60 minutes, online or in Dublin or Cork.

Just have a question? .

Common questions

What does it cost? +

Sessions are 60 minutes, online or face to face. We’ll email you our fees when you send the intake form, or tick "My question is about fees" when you send us a message.

Do I need a referral or a diagnosis? +

No. You can contact us directly. If you have reports or a diagnosis you'd like to share, you can tell us on the form and bring them to your first session.

Where are you? +

We see people online anywhere in Ireland, and face to face at 13 Fade Street, Dublin 2 and at Brook House, Donnybrook Commercial Centre, Douglas, Cork. See Contact for directions.

How do online sessions work? +

Online sessions are by secure video call. You'll get a link before each session: nothing to install, and you can join from a laptop, tablet or phone somewhere private.

Who do you see? +

Teens and young people from 13 to 25, and adults, including college students and people who are working. We do not see children under 13. For a young person under 18, a parent or guardian fills in the form with them.

What is a Workplace Needs Assessment? +

An OT assessment of what would help you at work, often funded through the Work and Access grant. Read how it works and how to apply.

What if I need to cancel? +

Please give at least 24 hours' notice by email. Sessions cancelled with less notice, or missed without contact, are charged in full.

Is what I tell you confidential? +

Yes. Your information is stored securely in the EU and only seen by the Anchor Therapy team supporting you. The form explains the few situations where we'd have to share information to keep someone safe.

What if I need help urgently? +

We are not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in danger, call 112 or 999, or go to your nearest emergency department. You can call Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24/7), Pieta on 1800 247 247, or text 50808 any time.
